Imagine a beachfront film festival lying between World Heritage Rainforest, The Great Barrier Reef and island studded Coral Sea. Now picture a program of films that entertain and inspire us to protect the natural world we live in. Quirky stories, incredible individuals and inspired communities are celebrated at the Mission Beach Film Festival – offering much more than you imagined.
If you are lucky enough to be in the far north Queensland area of Mission Beach (south of Cairns) then you will be in for treat! The vey first Mission Beach Film Festival is running November 6 & 7 2009 showing an amazing line up of sustainable film such as The Cove, The Age of Stupid, Big River Man & The Fox and the Child. They are also running a local Cassowary Coast Short Film Competition Award plus a photography exhibition.
Since “Sustainability” is this year’s theme for the Mission Beach Film Festival the organizers felt it was essential to ensure that the Festival itself had as low an environmental impact as possible. To this end they have instigated a number of initiatives such as Green Audit and Carbon Offsets, replanting of Native Revegetation and Traffic Calming
