If you are a fan of the BBC Life series or anything that David Attenborough does, then you are going to love this new mockumentary on the latest species that is endangered – the plastic bag!
This short film was created by the environmental nonprofit called Heal the Bay.
Entitled “The Majestic Plastic Bag” it is hilarious especially when you think about the film “American Beauty” and the iconic scene of the beautiful plastic bag blowing in the wind.
Plastic bags create tons of pollution in the environment. In Australia there are no plastic bag bans as yet, but stores push their own reusable bags for a small cost. Some states do have an added cost if you chose plastic bags but the real difference will be made when plastic bags are just not an option. You either bring your bags or you carry your goods in your arms.
So help stop California’s 19 billion bag-a-year habit and put an end to plastic pollution. Check out the Heal the Bay site and see what can be done. It may not be our country but it is our planet! http://www.HealtheBay.org/BagBill
You can make the difference – AND REMEMBER YOUR REUSABLE BAGS AT THE SHOPS!

UPDATE:
Australia
Sydney’s Oyster Bay was the first Australian suburb to ban plastic bags. Twelve towns in Australia are now said to be plastic bag-free—an effort to cut down on the estimated 6.7 billion plastic bags used in Australia every year.
Mexico City banned plastic bags last year but it wasn’t very successful. Reusables are in most shops but the need for clean street food utensils makes plastic bags important instead of washing recyclables in dirty water.
