In regards to choosing low wattage lighting, if you also choose to go down the path of LED lighting they can also outlast halogen and compact fluorescent bulbs y a number of years, and with a payback in energy savings of one to two years depending on the brands you can make even further savings by buying less bulbs.

Usually they can be found in supermarkets. Ask around and if you can’t find any, try some white vinegar and see if that works for what you need.
