Play dough is fantastic for kids to play with and to use their imagination. It really does keep little hands busy. I just love making home made play dough since it is so very easy and most likely you will have all ingredients already in your kitchen. There are many recipes out there for play dough but I prefer the much simpler no cook ones as they are easier and don’t require any cream of tartar but I will include both recipes so you can try both!

3 cups flour (depending on your batch, you may need to add slightly more to avoid stickiness)
1/3 cup salt
2tbsp oil (veg)
1 cup water
7 drops food colouring

Mix the dry ingredients with oil.
Add food colouring to water and mix together.
Add water to flour/salt/oil mixture slowly, about 1/4 cup at a time and mix together with a spoon.
Once you’ve added all the water, knead the dough with your hands.

If you would like 1 batch to make multiple colours, wait until you have made the dough and then at the end while kneading add the colouring to separate batches.

To keep your play dough fresh store it either in a zip lock bag or a resealable container.

1 cup flour
½ cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 cup water,
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
food colouring

Combine all the ingredients in a pot, except the food colouring.
Cook over low to medium heat for approximately 10 minutes, or until smooth. Remember to stir while cooking.
Add a few drops of food colouring after everything is mixed together well. You can separate the dough into small batches and add different colours to each bowl for a range of colours.
