Landshare Australia is here! This is a movement dedicated to sharing land, resources, help and inspiration for gardening and growing your own organic food.
Australia is a huge country, we all know this, but not everyone lives in an area that has room to grow such as myself in my little 2 bedroom unit with a concreted courtyard. I definitely make do with containers filled with herbs and a few vegetables but if I have grander plans to increase the amount of food I grow, I just do not have the room. AND this is where Landshare Australia comes into play!
They are able to connect growers (such as myself) with land (you could pick an acre or, if you’re ambitions, you could pick 42 acres! or if you have unused land you can offer it out to people).
Not only does this connect people with land, but also you can connect with people in your community who just want to help. They may want to come out every second weekend with their family and help work on a farm, work in a vegie garden, or even help maintain a lovely english garden with gorgeous flowers. It really caters to everyone!
Check the video out from Landshare to get more of an idea – I am honestly already on board!
Landshare Australia brings together people who have a passion for home-grown food, connecting those who have land to share with those who need land for cultivating food. The concept of Landshare began in the UK, launched through the River Cottage television program in 2009, and has since grown into a thriving community of more than 57,000 growers, sharers and helpers across the country. Now that Landshare is here in Australia, we welcome you to come and take part in this fantastic initiative.Landshare is for people who:
* Want to grow vegetables but don’t have anywhere to do it
* Have a spare bit of land they’re prepared to share
* Can help in some way – from sharing knowledge and lending tools to helping out on the plot itself
* Support the idea of freeing up more land for growing
* Are already growing and want to join in the community
What a brilliant idea.
Why not check out the Landshare site today and find some land, or connect with passionate ‘gardeners-to-be”!
